Curriculum and Class Pages

Our curriculum at Mosley is wonderfully creative!  All subjects follow the National Curriculum and you can read more about each subject in the procedures on the subject area pages.

Our Curriculum Procedure is available below.

We utilise topics and themes that are meaningful and exciting for our children.  This creative curriculum allows all of our children to make links across subjects, embed learning into the long term memory, be inquisitive and develop a real love of learning. Each subject leader supports the overall planning of progression and coverage across the year groups. Under each curriculum area on the following pages, you can read more about the subject procedures and progression of subject delivery across the school.

We take the children on a wide range of educational visits that enhance our curriculum, which have included recently:- Twycross Zoo, Drayton Manor; Lunt Roman Fort; ThinkTank; Blists Hill Museum; Churnet Valley Railway Evacuee Experience; Derby Open Centre and Worship Trail; St. George's Park; Shugborough Outdoor Education Centre.

There is more info on our English page about the teaching of phonics... We use Little Wandle Letters and Sounds (revised) for phonics this year in light of the new expectations form the DFE. If you would like to know more about this and how to help your child see the links below.

Our Reception and Key Stage One reading scheme is Collins Little Wandle Big Cat.

The children receive homework, which increases as they move through the school.  All children are expected to read at home regularly, as well as practise times tables.  Children will be set English and maths homework regularly in Year 3 onwards.  Homework should take no longer than 20 minutes, so please don't let the completion of homework become a 'battle'!  We also realise that children need time to be children after school, and we really want them to have time with parents, brothers and sisters to talk, listen to each other and play and share together.  Spending quality time with your children is just as important!
